Jennifer Garner and Bex Gentry: Champions Against Child Hunger
According to Ehsas.News, Jennifer Garner, the renowned actress and a board member of the organization “Save the Children,” has recently drawn significant attention to the serious problem of child malnutrition by undertaking a unique challenge. In support of the organization’s efforts, she ran one mile every day for 67 consecutive days, completing a total distance of 67 miles to raise funds and awareness about severe child malnutrition.
This challenge, titled 67Strong4Kids, aimed to raise the $67 needed to provide a six-week treatment with therapeutic food that can save the life of a child suffering from acute malnutrition. Garner was joined by elite runner Bex Gentry, and together, they promoted a powerful message, showing others that small efforts can lead to significant change.
The final event of this challenge took place on June 22 in Santa Monica, where hundreds of participants—both in-person and virtually—ran the last mile in support of Garner and Gentry. The enthusiastic turnout at this event demonstrated community solidarity in facing one of the greatest threats to child survival globally.
According to global statistics, one in five child deaths under the age of five is linked to acute malnutrition. This issue not only has immediate consequences but can also lead to permanent damage to a child’s physical and cognitive development, making them more vulnerable to diseases. Garner emphasized that, given global challenges such as climate change and economic inequality, an increasing number of children are suffering from malnutrition, highlighting the urgent need for global cooperation to tackle this crisis.
In this regard, Gentry stated, “I love giving back to the world, and running is one way I can do that. The 67Strong4Kids campaign has turned these two passions into reality for me.”
So far, the campaign has successfully raised $500,000 to support children suffering from malnutrition worldwide. This funding aids Save the Children in addressing the causes of malnutrition and treating severe cases, offering hope that this initiative can break the cycle of malnutrition for future generations.
